Trip begins July 23, 2024

Hello, this is Dan. I always wanted to see the Grand Canyon, never seemed to be convenient, or the right time, too busy, too many responsibilities. I lost my wife in April of 2022 and I've been a very dull boy since.

I've decided (thanks kids, you all told me to start enjoying life) that there is no time like the present. So, I started planning the when and how. Many different ideas, plans and times went through my mind, and I wasn't able to settle on any. Then I met a friend. We talked over dinner one Saturday evening and I told her of my dream to see the Grand Canyon. Turns out she really, really, really wants to go there as well. (Maybe not THAT many reallys, but whatever) So, a travel companion has been found. We figured out a mutually good time frame to go and started planning. One day she texted and asked if I had heard of "Historic Route 66. I had, of course, but never researched it. Once I looked into it, I was hooked! We've researched sites, watched videos, looked at maps (Well, I have, I'm old fashioned that way) and have a general idea of how we will complete this excursion.

We plan to fly from Ohio to Los Angeles, CA. Once out of LAX (should be fun) we have a rental reserved to drive to the St. Monica Pier. (It starts/ends here) Take a picture of us at the sign and try our best to escape LA before dark. (Ah, the best laid plans of man)

For now, that's all. I just set up this little website and wanted to write a beginning. Stay tuned friends and family. Much more to come.
